Gerhard Lenski, 1924-2015

Gerhard (Gerry) Lenski passed away December 7th at his home in Edmonds, Washington.
Lenski joined the UNC Sociology Department in 1963 and retired in 1992 as the Alumni Distinguished Professor Sociology. He is best known for his pioneering work in the area of social stratification and ecological-evolutionary theory. Lenski also served as president of the Southern Sociological Society and vice president of the American Sociological Association.
