…(Sherryl) Kleinman, a professor of sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, says women cannot reclaim a term that was never theirs. “The idea of reclaiming implies that women owned this term, it was then co-opted by men, and now women want it back,” says Kleinman, who was the lead author on a paper called Reclaiming Critical Analysis: the Social Harms of ‘Bitch’ in the journal Sociological Analysis.
