Robert Hummer appointed to the National Advisory Council on Aging (NACA)

Howard D. Odum Distinguished Professor of Sociology Dr. Robert Hummer has been invited to serve on the National Advisory Council on Aging (NACA) by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NACA advises the Director of National Institute on Aging, one of the institutes of NIH, on their mission to advance federal research on aging. The Council meets three times per year to evaluate and recommend funding for research and training initiatives. Dr. Hummer’s appointment will run through 2027.

*Though the Sociology Department uses the name Pauli Murray Hall for our building, on official maps you will find it as Hamilton Hall. In July 2020, all of the departments housed in the building agreed to adopt the name Pauli Murray Hall because of Professor Hamilton’s role in shaping history for the benefit of white supremacy and Murray’s legacy of advocacy for the rights of all members of society.
