To promote academic exchange and collaboration between Fudan and UNC, a delegation from UNC Sociology (Kenneth (Andy) Andrews, Arne Kalleberg, Jacqueline Hagan and Yong Cai) visited the School of Social Development and Public Policy at Fudan University in Shanghai China in early summer of 2017. The visit had two main components: a series of talks and meetings in the week of June 6-10 and a one-month long visiting scholar fellowships supported by Fudan Scholars Program.

During the visit, UNC faculty had the opportunity to meet with many faculty in the School of Social Development and Public Policy, especially those in the Department of Sociology and the Population Institute. The visit gave both sides an opportunity to learn each other’s strengths in research and discuss research by faculty in both universities. Fudan’s Sociology and Population programs are among the strongest in China, and match well with UNC’s strengths. We also met with SSDPP’s leadership and agreed that there are many shared opportunities for UNC and Fudan Sociology to continue exchange and collaboration in the future.

UNC (College of Arts and Sciences) has a standing student exchange agreement with Fudan SSDPP. The agreement is primarily intended for undergraduate students, but graduate students may apply.
