Graduate Student Association

Presidents:

The GSA co-presidents act as liaisons between the graduate students in the department and the departmental leadership, speaking to departmental leadership on behalf of the graduate students on issues pertinent to the lives and well-being of graduate students.  They also have a variety of other duties, including assigning office space, administering the annual departmental survey, and running the nomination process for graduate student leadership and graduate student awards.

GPSG Senator:

The GPSG Senator is the departmental liaison to the UNC Graduate and Professional Student Government who speaks on behalf of graduate students in meetings of the GPSG and relays information back to students about the activities of the GPSG.

Social Committee:

The graduate student representatives for the social committee assist in providing and coordinating social functions for all sociology graduate students.

Graduate Studies Committee:

The graduate student representatives of the graduate studies committee operate on behalf of graduate students to provide recommendations for course offerings and keep graduate students in the department informed about the committee’s actions and decisions.

Graduate Lounge Liaison:

The graduate lounge liaisons act as a liaison between students and front office staff on issues regarding the graduate student lounge, and help to create a positive gathering place for graduate students.
